Install Oracle XE on Linux and configure database XE

Download the rpm from the Oracle Website:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/xe/htdocs/102xelinsoft.html

Execute the RPM

rpm -ihv oracle-xe-univ-10.2.0.1-1.0.i386.rpm


Configure the database

su - root
cd /etc/init.d
./oracle-xe configure

  1. Very short and crisp..thanks...would be good if u elaborate on how once can create a database manually, shop the default XE database from loading and use ones custom database...
